Many people who say that they want to follow Jesus point to his love, his charity, his work ethic, his relationships. Many people fail to realize that Jesus’ life didn’t save anyone. When we follow Jesus we need to follow him to the Cross, because that’s what he was willing to do for us. Jesus said in John 15:12,13 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
The bible is your guide to following Jesus and I’m afraid all the time many of you get with God is a lesson on the Internet. Jesus did lots of things in his life, He taught, he worked, he did miracles, he chastised religious leaders, he turned over tables and he died and rose again. Many times our image of Jesus is really our image of who we want him to be, I’d like to encourage you if you don’t know a lot about Jesus, read the gospels and find out. Jesus loves you and he wants to have you as a follower but you need to be willing to follow wherever he leads you.
