(caution, some spoilers but it dosn’t ruin the plot twists in the end)
MPAA: Rated R for some brutal violence and language
Post apocalyptic movies are a dime a dozen but sometimes a great movie can’t be overshadowed by an over used plot. The Book of Eli is a story of God’s plan and power in the life of one seemingly insignificant man. The movie is briliantly started without dialoug but instead we see the day to day activities of a resoursefull drifter. The world feels cold and isolated, there is not another soul in sight until Eli comes upon a stranded woman and a highjackers trap. This is resolved through one of the most finely crafted and brutal fight scenes ever made.
Their’s no shortage of drama, action or God’s grace in this 118 min. epic staring Denzel Washington, Mila Kunis, Gary Oldman and the ever wonderful Tom Waits.
